We didn't announce Jiujiu's retirement earlier because her condition wasn't yet stable. We wanted to wait until she was fully recovered before sharing the news! Last year, during Jiujiu's pre-placement health checkup, she was diagnosed with FIP (feline infectious peritonitis). Since it was caught early and symptoms were mild, the timely screening proved crucial. She quickly began treatment with injections and medication and made a smooth recovery. Six months after stopping injections, she underwent spurgery and recovered well afterward. Around the time of Jiujiu's diagnosis, her current adopter reached out asking when she might have kittens. She had fallen in love with Jiujiu at first sight and became the first person to learn about her illness. After learning of Jiujiu's condition, her adopter immediately expressed a strong desire to take her home. Once we explained the potential risk of FIP recurrence and reviewed her personal situation, we successfully signed the adoption agreement. What followed was a long period of waiting—waiting for treatment to complete, for the observation period after stopping medication, for surgery, and for post-surgery recovery. We're deeply grateful for her patience throughout this journey ❤️ Jiujiu's adoption is completely free, and she receives all the same protections and benefits as any other retired kitten. Last night, I drove her to her new home, just 30 minutes away. After nearly a year of waiting, her adopter finally welcomed Jiujiu into her arms. Jiujiu adjusted perfectly to her new environment, snuggling against her new mom and rolling around happily on the bed. We wish Jiujiu a healthy, happy life ahead with her forever family—may she always be safe and joyful! Finally, while the exact cause of FIP remains unclear, both environmental and genetic factors may play a role. Therefore, we will publicly share Jiujiu's pedigree on our homepage (with permission from her breeder) to help trace any potential genetic links.
